Organised by St Boswells Community Woodland / Friends of the Woodland.
Our next workday will be on Saturday 12th November 10 am in the Tennis Club Car Park.
We’ve secured an offer of a grant from Paths 4 All to engage a tree surgeon to clear the remaining ‘hanging’ trees in the woodland. With some of the grant we plan to engage a horse logging team on a future date, hopefully December 3rd, to help move some of the felled timber. Should be an interesting event!
To prepare for that, we need to clear the loose branches and smaller logs that are lying around from when Buccleuch Estates felled some trees. Boswells Mowers have generously donated use of their chipper again and plan to be there to operate it but we really need all the help we can get to feed the beast as some of you know!
Mostly we need people to collect the loose stuff and barrow away the chippings and, as they say, many hands make light work, so we would be very grateful if you spare some time and muscle! If you know of any groups of youngish people that might be willing to help out, please do let us know or share this.
Wheelbarrows, shovels, loppers, hand saws, loppers, gloves etc would be very useful. No power tools please.
Under 16’s should be accompanied by a responsible nominated adult please.
Hopefully once this is done we can look forward to some actual tree planting!
