The talk will start at 10.15.
LOOKING AHEAD TO FUTURE WARMUPS
26 November 2025. St Boswells Primary School: visit of P1 and Reading Leaders
The Reading Leaders are promoting reading for pleasure at the school. “Reading Schools” is an accreditation program run by the Scottish Book Trust which supports the development of a reading culture. It involves engagement with the local community. So, come along and support the children!
3 December 2025. John Farquhar: on “Nuclear Energy”
What does the term “Nuclear Energy” mean to you? Some people might think of a nuclear reactor generating electricity. Others might think of nuclear weapons. Maybe a few people will think of radioactivity, and how dangerous that could be. But what is it really, and where does it come from? This talk will aim to dispel the mystery surrounding “nuclear energy” and to explain how it is linked to radioactivity. If you’ve ever wondered about whether something in your home might be radioactive (for example, an old wristwatch with a luminous dial), please bring it along to the talk!
At the Warmups, you can come and go as you please between 9.30 and 12.30. Refreshments, snacks, newspapers, books to borrow, craic, and companionship. No charge!
Many thanks to the funders of the 2025-26 Wednesday Warmups, the Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund.
