On Tuesday 31st August a truly memorable event was held in the hall – Alistair Moffat reading and introducing extracts from his new book, The Secret History of Here. This eloquent and crystal-clear performance, splendidly organized by The Mainstreet Trading Company, was rendered even more enjoyable by the fact that it’s the first time we’ve had anything of the kind in the hall for about a year and a half. The audience was impeccably masked, and contact details were provided for the NHS Test & Protect scheme. Well done, everyone, for helping to keep the hall safe for all its users. Now we have Mainstreet’s Ian Rankin event to look forward to, on the 23rd September.
