The contractors have moved in and the work has started in making your Village Hall something to really be proud of. After a very thorough and detailed selection process, the company chosen to lead the work are Murray & Burrell of Galashiels, who will be working with a very wide range of tradespeople from the local area to complete the work by mid-May, 2014.
After just a few days work, the transformation is striking: the ladies toilets have all gone, the entire inside of the hall is scaffolded out, the lean to at the back is gone and the foundations for the new stair have been dug, the gents toilets are almost gone, and the entrance-side kitchen wall is being demolished. Meetings have taken place to agree all outstanding fine details about the work, and everyone involved is enjoying the good weather which helps make things a lot easier in the winter.
A couple of quick snaps taken on Wednesday 8th January illustrate the change:
Fully scaffolded Main Hall to allow the ceiling to be insulated and re-clad.
The remains of the ladies toilets – now being moved to the other side of the building.
