What a fortnight! Since first wading through the flooded boiler room and seeing that poor, sad boiler and broken pump – to heating engineers and their expert opinions (condemned!) and seeking tenders and quotes for work required to video production and much hilarity and a few tears at the finished results – it has been all go for the Village Hall Committee.
We are working hard to try and secure some funds for the new boiler and heating system. Without money over the coming months we shall have to drain the system and close the Hall. This would be a disaster for the Village as winter is the busiest time of year for the hall. We are pulling out all the stops to make sure we stay open and all the groups and users can continue their activities and events at the Hall.
We have secured a grant of £2,000 from The Federation of Small Halls. Thank You! We are applying for another grant from Scottish Borders Council Community Grant Scheme this coming week. We have applied for a grant from Peoples Postcode Trust although the competition for this is HUGE.
RBS CommunityForce – We Need Your VOTES
We have also this week, shot a video and put together photos and a project profile for the Royal Bank of Scotland CommunityForce grant scheme. We know there are other local groups looking for this funding too so “Good Luck to us all!”
This grant is a possible £6,000 and everyone and anyone can go online and vote for their favourite projects (you can vote for up to 3 – only 1 vote per project) between 26th September and 23rd October.
The url for this is http://communityforce.rbs.co.uk/project/999 and there is also a telephone number you can call to vote – 0800 2100 245.
